Brian Karl is a writer, educator, curator, and media producer. He has served as a director and curator at organizations including Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE), Harvestworks Media Arts, Headlands Center for the Arts, Creative Time, and The Kitchen. His art and anthropological writing has appeared in Apollo, Art in America, Art & Education, Artforum, e-flux, Frieze, Hyperallergic, The Observer, SFMOMA’s Open Space, Yishu Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art, Cultural Anthropology, Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, and Migration Studies. He has exhibited video and art installations at Kadist Foundation, SALT Istanbul, the Jewish Museum, the Whitney Biennial, and the New York and San Francisco Film Festivals.
