Lisa Kehler Art + Projects is proud to present New Body, Michael Dumontier‘s first solo exhibition with the gallery. The show builds on Dumontier’s familiar menagerie, while brilliantly referencing the past two decades of work. Dumontier has an innate ability to construct everyday objects in the most poetic ways: A clock-like work slowly rotates, while tiny handmade aluminum sprouts dot the wall and go almost unnoticed. This is the beauty of Dumontier’s work: He is less concerned with presenting a specific narrative or directive it seems, than with his own discovery of what is pleasing. Simple shapes prevail in this exhibition in such a way that it presents as a sort of meditation.
