Nicholas Metivier Gallery is pleased to present About Face, an exhibition featuring twelve international artists who engage with the genre of portraiture. The exhibition will open on January 7th.
The artists included in this exhibition – Shelley Adler, Stephen Appleby-Barr, Charles Bierk, Chuck Close, John Hartman, Izima Kaoru, Yousuf Karsh, Alison Lambert, Keita Morimoto, Gordon Parks, Sebastião Salgado and Matthew Schofield – span several generations and demonstrate a range of mediums including photography, drawing and painting. Portraits have a unique ability to tell a story through the universal language of human expression and gesture. This exhibition looks at the various processes that take advantage of the genre’s narrative power.
