Mimi Howard

Mimi Howard is a writer and critic based in New York whose work explores contemporary art and the legacies of critical theory, with a particular emphasis on moving-image art and its exhibition. She received the 2020 Michael O’Pray Prize for emerging arts criticism from Art Monthly and Film and Video Umbrella and contributes regularly to Art Monthly. Her writing has also appeared in ArtReview, Radical Philosophy, Los Angeles Review of Books, and Parapraxis. Howard holds a PhD in the History of Political Thought from the University of Cambridge and is currently an ACLS Leading Edge Fellow working in direct social services on the Lower East Side.
