Momus Critical Writing Fellowship 2025

David Ayala-Alfonso lives and works in Mexico City as a curator and writer. He is a guest curator for Independent Curators International and a Visiting Critic for the At The Transit Bar series. His research addresses visual culture and critical heritage, focusing on the political and ecological implications of extractive practices. He contributes to numerous publications in the US, Mexico, and the UK, and mentors artists in different residency programs in Mexico City. Ayala-Alfonso earned his MA in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has participated in curatorial residencies in France, Colombia, the US, the UK, and Germany.

Alexandra Méndez García is an Puerto Rican art historian. She holds an MA from the University of Texas at Austin where she studied at the Center for Latin American Visual Studies. Her essays, which interrogate the connections between art and ecology, have been published in Intervenxions, US LatinX, Art Forum, and Plástica.

Ramona Ngin is an art worker and writer from San Francisco. Her writing has appeared in C Magazine, Boston Art Review, e-flux, and The Amp, among other publications, and she has recently addressed the work of Charles Atlas, Inas Halabi, and the Asian American artist network Godzilla. She is currently the curatorial assistant at the MIT List Visual Arts Center, where she organized the first US solo museum exhibitions of Kite (with Selby Nimrod) and Elif Saydam. She is also an art editor at n+1. Ramona lives in Providence, Rhode Island.

Andrii Ushytskyi is a writer based in Kyiv, Ukraine, where he is editor of Solomiya, an independent Ukrainian-German print magazine that showcases Ukrainian cultural and artistic resistance to Russian imperial aggression. His writing has been published by Playground, Slanted, Most, and he has contributed as editor and translator to the Secondary Archive project, an online archive preserving the works of women artists from Central and Eastern Europe, aiming to address their historical invisibility in art.

Sky Goodden is the founding publisher of Momus, an online platform for art writing and criticism; and co-host of Momus: The Podcast. Goodden has published in numerous catalogues, art books, and publications including Momus, Frieze, Art in America, C Magazine, and Art21, among others. She is based in Montreal.

Jessica Lynne is a writer and art critic. She is a founding editor of ARTS.BLACK, an online journal of art criticism from Black perspectives. Her writing has been featured in publications such as Artforum, the Believer, Frieze, the Los Angeles Times, the Nation, and Oxford American, where she was a contributing editor. Lynne is the recipient of a 2020 Research and Development award from the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts and a 2020 Arts Writer Grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation. She is the inaugural recipient of the Beverly Art Writers Travel Grant awarded in 2022 by the American Australian Association. From 2023 to 2025, Lynne was an editor for Momus.

Merray Michael Mina is an Egyptian essayist, editor, and writing teacher based in New York. While studying art history at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, she co-founded and edited CRIT, a free biannual print-only criticism publication. From 2016 to 2019, she held various editorial positions at Canadian Art. She was the inaugural 2019-2020 editorial fellow at C Magazine, where she conceptualized and edited three themed print issues addressing facets of systemic change in the art world. She recently completed her MFA in narrative nonfiction at New York University. From 2023 to 2025 she was an associate editor at Momus.

Catherine G. Wagley is a journalist, critic, and editor based in Los Angeles. She is co-editor at Momus and her book She Wanted Adventure is forthcoming from FSG.

Lauren Wetmore is a Canadian writer, editor, and curator based in Brussels. She has directed Momus Programs since 2020, and is co-host/producer of Momus: The Podcast since 2017. Wetmore is on the Board of Directors of rekto:verso magazine and co-editor of The Employee, with Joshua Schwebel (Art Metropole, 2025). She has written for catalogues from Mousse Publishing and Sternberg Press; and has published in frieze, MadaMasr, Spike Arts Quarterly, and C Magazine, among others. Wetmore has held positions at MUDAM Luxembourg, the Carnegie Museum of Art, Frieze Projects London, Mophradat, Barbican Art Gallery, The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity; and she has curated independent projects for the Kunstenfestivaldesarts and Hangar Barcelona.
